The Emerging Markets Forum was created as a not-for-profit initiative to bring together high-level government and corporate leaders from around the world to engage in dialogue on the key economic, financial and social issues facing emerging market countries. The 2017 Africa Emerging Markets Forum took place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire on March 26-27. This year, the forum was opened by Alassane Ouattara, President of Cote d’Ivoire, Niale Kaba, Minister of Planning and Development of Cote d’Ivoire, Harinder Kohli, Chief Executive of the Emerging Markets Forum, K. Y. Amoako, President of the African Center for Economic Transformation.

Summary:

From 2010 to 2050, Sub-Saharan Africa is projected to have the largest absolute (1.3 billion) and percentage (150 percent) increase in total population across all global regions. North Africa’s population growth is the second largest in percentage terms with a projected increase of 60 percent. The continent’s total population is expected to double to 2.5 billion by 2050 accounting for one fourth of all humanity, making it the only region with a young and growing population. Read more
