Measuring the commitment of a regional economic community’s member states to the regional integration process
The FERDI proposes to strengthen the monitoring of regional integration by an index measuring the commitment of a regional economic community’s member states to the regional integration process. This composite index is based on indicators measuring the transposition and implementation of Community official texts by each member state. Thus, the diagnosis is refocused on the decision-making process of public authorities, which allows removing the influence of factors independent of their degree of commitment on the results of integration policies. A first application of this index to trade integration in WAEMU has been carried out in 2016.
