Regional integration, trade

Strengthening regional integration. Measuring efficiency of trade policies.
Strengthening regional integration

Strengthening regional integration is a major issue for Africa as a whole, and for the countries of the franc zone in particular. At the request of Ministers in the franc zone, Ferdi has carried out a study and published a book on Evaluating expected gains from regional integration in African countries in the franc zone. In partnership with the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) Commissions, Ferdi is continuing its analysis of regional integration, focusing on tax coordination and state commitment.

Efficiency of trade policies

This project focuses in on the impact of trade preferences in favour of least-developed countries (remoteness of markets, relative market access preferences, emissions trading terms, free trade policies, and the instability of exports). This project is the subject of close cooperation between the Ferdi, the Cerdi and universities abroad, led by the University of Geneva with Jaime de Melo.
