On March 12, 2026, Joël Cariolle, Research Officer at FERDI, spoke about the contribution of mobile connectivity to the integration of agricultural markets in West Africa.

 AgroSfer organised this webinar on the digitalisation of agricultural sectors in Africa, with a particular focus on the strategic use and valorisation of data within value chains. The discussion explored the conditions under which digital tools can effectively support the management of agricultural sectors and inform decision-making. 

In this context, Joël Cariolle provided research-based insights into how digital technologies are transforming agricultural value chains, with a specific emphasis on mobile connectivity and market integration in West Africa.

A Research Officer at FERDI, his work focuses on digital issues in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing regions. He is co-author, with J. Aker, of the book Mobile Phones and Development in Africa: Does the Evidence Meet the Hype? (Palgrave Studies in Agricultural Economics and Food Policy, Springer Nature).
